Matt McKinney grew up in Augusta, Georgia, immersed in music. Hailing from a music family, just two days after graduating from the University of Georgia, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in songwriting.

In 2020, Matt signed his first publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Nashville. Since, he’s become widely regarded as a songwriter in Music City landing cuts with major artists including Tim McGraw, Elle King, Jon Pardi, Jordan Davis, Ella Langley, Jimmie Allen, Ernest, Kolby Cooper, Shane Profitt, and more. His breakout success came with Trey Lewis’ Billboard #1 and double-platinum hit “Dicked Down in Dallas" in December of 2020.
